Svbony is a low-cost brand of optics. Their main products are telescopes, binoculars, monoculars, and astronomy accessories.
Svbony is a pretty good brand with attractive product prices compared to other brands. Especially the telescope hardware accessories from Svbony are good quality for a great price. The quality of the optics is not lacking behind the big brands like Celestron or Sky-Watcher.

Who makes SVBONY?
Svbony is made in China like basically every other telescope and astronomy brand. They have warehouses in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and France for local shipping.
However, some products will be shipped directly from China anyway. Svbony started in 2009, so they are a pretty new player on the astronomy equipment market. Even big brands like Celestron, SkyWatcher, or Orion are made in China. The products between the brands are sometimes identical with different brand names on the box.
Where to buy SVBONY products?
Svbony has its own website where you can buy its products. However, I recommend using the Amazon store, so you are covered by Amazon policies and customer support.
They also have eBay and Aliexpress stores, which gives you options to choose from. It’s up to you what you prefer. From what I know, they don’t have retail stores where you can walk in and try the products yet.
SVBONY shipping times and cost
For some products, the shipping is free. These are usually the most expensive ones they sell. Because they have warehouses in different countries, the shipping is pretty fast, but the Amazon Prime is the best.
If you order from their website, they offer DHL for 3-7 days if the package is over 2kg. If the package is less than 2kg, you have two options:
- Economy shipping is 25-35 days
- Expedited shipping is 3-7 days
SVBONY customer service
My experience with customer service was satisfactory. They reply to emails pretty fast, but the best way is to contact them through the Facebook page.
I had no issues with the products, my inquiries were about the shipping and other stuff. So I can’t tell you how it is if you need to return or fix the product. That’s why I recommend buying everything on Amazon to be safe.

Are SVBONY telescopes any good?
They offer only refracting telescopes focusing seemingly on astrophotography. These telescopes are good quality. At the moment, they offer Apochromatic Triplet that costs only around $800, which is an unbeatable price for triplets because they are always above $1000.
The rest is perfect for beginners to start with astrophotography because you can also do it with the doublet. However, I can’t talk about the quality because I prefer only reflecting telescopes, aka Newtonian telescopes.
But I heard from people owning telescopes from Svbony that they are of decent quality for the price. Svbony doesn’t sell any Newtonian telescopes yet (2023).
I always recommend a Dobsonian reflector for visual astronomy, so if you are looking to buy a telescope for that purpose, the Svbony is not for you.
But it is a different story with the telescope hardware accessories. I highly recommend going for Svbony dovetails, adapters, and other accessories. It will save you a fortune, and the quality is amazing.

Are SVBONY eyepieces any good?
Eyepieces from Svbony are a great option if you want to upgrade your stock of Plossls eyepieces that came with the telescope. I own a few Svbony eyepieces, and I’m very happy with them.
But you have to keep in mind one thing regarding eyepieces. They are made for specific telescope types, and there are dozens of telescope types. So the rule of thumb is, if you own a generic mass-produced telescope, you are ok with basically any eyepiece.
On the other hand, if you own a very expensive fast telescope, you should go with the same brand for the eyepiece. You will need a high-quality expensive eyepiece made particularly for your type of telescope.
SVBONY astronomy cameras
There are many types of astronomy cameras, and Svbony focuses on guiding cameras and planetary cameras. You can see them marketed for astrophotography sometimes, but they are not.
Svbony released one astrophotography camera in 2022 with the SONY IMX294 sensor. The reviews are very positive so far. The SV405 camera is also cooled, so it is made for deep-sky object astrophotography. The same sensor is in the well-known ZWO ASI294MC-PRO.
I personally own one Svbony camera. The SV305 Pro is a planetary camera, but I can also use it for some astrophotography.

My experience with SVBONY products
I own a lot of Svbony products because of the price and high quality. I like the filters, eyepieces, camera, and other hardware I have from them. It saved me a lot of money.
I have no problem with the products from Svbony, and they have my trust. There are some things that I could complain about, but they are minor. Overall I would recommend Svbony to anyone starting in astronomy and astrophotography.
If you are just starting in this field, you don’t need the most expensive gear on the planet. The gear that will do the job is the best for starting this expensive hobby.
