The aperture-area ratio, calculated as 203.2² divided by 150², is about 1.84 before accounting for obstructions and transmission. That is a meaningful optical advantage. It does not mean every object looks 84 percent more impressive, or that atmospheric conditions permit a correspondingly higher magnification.

The 8SE gives you more aperture for faint objects and fine detail when conditions cooperate. The 6SE remains a capable visual telescope for the Moon, planets and many brighter deep-sky objects. Neither makes faint galaxies look like processed color photographs.
